Stripped: Inside the Lives of Exotic Dancers by Bernadette Barton
http://books.google.com/books?id=Cg5CU_U…She identifies herself as being lesbian, but she sounds more like a bisexual. Not even sure how I found the book as I was looking for art supplies. :)
It received mixed reviews at Amazon:

Bottom line after perusing 2 1/2 pages not an enjoyable read because it makes me want to go to the club. :)

If you follow those Amazon links ("customers who bought this book also liked ...") you'll see about 50 other similar titles. It's really a no-brainer as far as marketing goes -- a publisher can just figger, "Hey, sex sells!" So what distinguishes these various books apart from one another, is whether or not they're actually well done. Which one has good writing? Which one tells stories that have not been told? (And which one just trumpets the same old, tired, generally false mythology?) And since publishers aren't looking at that level of content -- all they need is grammaticality and, tah-dah, sex sells! -- you aren't guaranteed anything worth having at all.
Kind of like Madonna's book, "Sex." Aside from the nakey nakey pictures of Madonna, was there any reason for that book's existence? In other words, if you don't like Madonna then you won't like the book. Obvious ...
I'd like to at least speed read them all! :)
I tend to either use Amazon's search inside this book feature or look at what other reviewers have to say. But even that has its limits. I really enjoyed "Patpong Sisters," but the reviews at Amazon seem very negative:

One reviewer even called the writer a "cretin." She seemed like a person I would like to meet, btw.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Funny at least the second "feminist" writer whose work I've enjoyed reading. :)
