Simple low cost ingredients, one dish per meal.

I mean it depends on who you are cooking for, and how much time and money you are willing to put into it.

I don't really make desserts. I just get some ice cream bars.

Plus, I use paper plates for the most part. I only use dishes for guests and special occasions....
