If you survived 2001 and 2007/08 then you already know what to do.
Keep your allocations where you are comfortable with the risk tolerance and watch what the government does or doesn't do to entice investors......as an example there were a fair amount of private equity bonds sold that were backed by the federal government 100% and paid a decent premium in excess of current interest rates in 2008/09..................ie Parkway Toll Road in Texas, Port Authority in NJ, Great Lakes Restore program and even Chase Bank.....all of them paid in excess of 6.5% and are not callable..................and are backed by the USA.
