One man is dead after an early morning shooting at Xpose, a strip club on Southwest Canyon Road, Beaverton police said.

The 36-year-old victim was not identified by police. The man was shot about 1:30 a.m. outside of the club entrance, said Sgt. Vance Stimler. He was taken to an area hospital, where he died.

Stimler said the scene was chaotic, with early and inaccurate reports of multiple victims. The suspect or suspects remain at large, he said.

He said investigators suspect the victim was targeted.

"We don't believe it was random," he said.

He said the area is closed at Walker and Canyon roads to 103rd Avenue. He said the disruption to traffic is expected to continue through the morning commute.

From my perspective looking at websites, and tracking movements of Portland dancers on Xotispot, Xpose is a dive of dives. Still a place I want to be able to go to. But I plan to be careful.

Not a dive of dives, but a large percentage of the customer base is from the lower rungs of the socio-economic ladder. I'm mildly surprised to see that happened there. Woke up to multiple txts asking if I was at the club when it happened. I suspect the already thin crowds will get smaller. We'll see if the place survives.

Stopped by last night. Place was surprisingly busy. Bouncer had a brand new wand and wanded everyone before entry. One dancer told me they were still cleaning blood off the doorstep when she arrived (victim was trying to run back into the club when shot).

But as some of the girls are not really on Xotispot, and many of them seem to be older girls coming from the other clubs, it reminds me of what our Portland dancer member said of the dives of dives, "The dancers are street hookers."

@SJG I'm guessing that Xoticspot is giving you a skewed view of who dances there. There certainly are a few "street hooker" types working there, especially on the late shift (9-close). The vast majority seem like typical Portland dancers. OTC is maybe a little easier to arrange there because the amount of money in the club is less than the other West-side clubs.

Anyway, when I think of a Portland dive strip club, I'm thinking of places like Dream On, or the Boom Boom Room, or Tommy's Too; places where dancers go when the better clubs won't hire them.

Never heard of those clubs, thanks for the info.

Most of the clubs, dancers have xoticspot profiles. But some considered extreme dives have lots of dancers without profiles.

I'm not the one who introduced the idea of 'street hookers'. But there have been situations like that here and in SF.

With so many clubs, there must be between one and two thousand strippers in the Portland metro area. Only a small minority of those girls have Xoticspot profiles, and fewer still keep their Xoticspot page up to date. Most dancers I meet are unaware that Xoticspot exists.
