“... It's raining cash for two strippers who have settled their federal lawsuit against a Queens jiggle joint for unpaid wages.

Sugardaddy's of Long Island City has agreed to pay a total of $200,000 to Mettanie Tapia and Shauna Kern, both former dancers at the club.

The women claimed they were cheated out of minimum wages, tips, and overtime, but the club admitted no wrongdoing under the settlement agreement filed in Brooklyn Federal Court.

Tapia, who dances under the name "Karma," had previously sued another mammary mecca, Gentleman's Club in Astoria, and collected a $40,000 settlement in that employment case.

Gentleman's Club has other issues as well — it was hit Wednesday with a new lawsuit.

Universal Music Corp. slapped the pleasure palace with a federal copyright lawsuit alleging that songs by Notorious B.I.G. and Skillz for Skillz were played without permission ...”

She couldn't get anyone to get a dance from her because she's so ugly. That's why she sued the club to make up the lost wages That's karma for the club for having such low standards. I'd pay her to put a brown paper bag over her head.

If you stay on Manhattan Island, you will get beautiful dancers but you need to sell your car to afford 1 night with them. If you leave Manhattan Island and goto the other parts of NYC across the river looking for a better deal, your dancer will be wearing a wig, and you will wonder if they are pre or post-op. Dont go to NYC unless your boss is paying for it.

I thought strippers were independent contractors and not subject to the minimum wage laws. Shows how little i know about the law.

^^

In most clubs they are treated as independent contractors but in nearly every case where the dancers have filed a lawsuit claiming the clubs are in violation of FLSA, the dancers have won in the courts or have reached an out of court
settlement.

The clubs are guilty of mis-classifying the dancers as independent contractors because management sets rules that tressts them like employees. Having said that, the majority of these cases have been filed old dancers who can't make it. (See above ugly bitches). They work the system both ways.

And most dancers like the current system - even if it violates the law. It's a win-win for both sides.

This is just another example of the legal profession showing off their skill set. Bet the lawyers got more money than the plaintiffs, in fees and expenses, and shows the public how dysfunctional the legal system is, and how corrupted it has become.
