FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A woman was shot after police say a man opened fire at north-side strip club early Thursday morning.

Fort Wayne Police were called just after 2 a.m. to the parking lot of Stewies club on Coldwater Road on a report of shots fired. Witnesses told 911 that a man in a grey shirt and jean shorts had fired 4-5 shots at a red Camaro in the parking lot.

A witness told police he saw the man walking through the parking lot and fire on the Camaro as it sped out of the lot onto northbound Coldwater Road. A witness said the suspect and the two occupants on the Camaro were in an argument before opening fire.

Police recovered six spent shell casings from the parking lot.

As police investigated, officers were alerted about a woman who had checked into a hospital with a gunshot wound.

At the hospital, the woman told police she had been inside a car in the parking lot of Stewies when an argument broke out and a man began firing a gun, the report said. The woman said she didn’t realize she had been shot until they drove off, at which point they drove to Parkview Hospital, she told police.

Hospital staff listed the woman in fair condition, telling investigators she’d been shot once, with the bullet having traveled through her palm into her right shoulder, the report said.

Investigators found two bullet holes in the hood and front grill of the Dodge Avenger the woman had been in, and another in its windshield, the report said.
