A Portland police officer near heard multiple gunshots early Sunday in the East Precinct as calls poured into 911 dispatchers about the shooting.

Police turned up at the Spearmint Rhino strip club, at 15826 Southeast Division Street shortly after the 1:51 a.m. incident. Closing time is listed at 2:30 p.m.

Security guards at the venue flagged officers down to point out evidence of gunfire in the lot. Police offered no specifics about the nature of the evidence.

"No evidence of any victims was located and nobody arrived at any Portland hospitals with gunshot wounds," police reported in a news release later in the morning.

It's illegal to fire a weapon inside city limits, and the Portland Police Bureau Gun Task Force is continuing to investigate the matter.
