Oshkosh's last strip club closed its doors this week as local prosecutors were pursuing a court order to shut it down.

Naughty Girls, 2116 Jackson St., had a small sign posted on the door Tuesday indicating the strip club and bar is closed until further notice.

The closure comes almost three weeks after Winnebago County Assistant District Attorney Scott Ceman filed a civil lawsuit requesting a judge declare the business a nuisance because of several prostitution cases dating back a year-and-a-half.

Ceman also asked the judge to authorize the removal and sale of any property used in relation to the prostitution cases and the closure of the business for one year.

Naughty Girls' shutdown essentially ends the use of the property as a strip club.

Oshkosh Director of Planning Services Darryn Burich said the strip club had been operating for so long it was exempt from municipal codes that now prohibit the establishment of adult entertainment business within 500 feet of residences, schools, churches, other taverns and other similar land uses.

Burich said it will not be allowed to re-open as an adult entertainment venue after it is closed for seven consecutive days.

According to the civil lawsuit, dancers at the club told Oshkosh Police Department undercover detectives that Christopher Cary, 33, of Fond du Lac, was their pimp and helped them get jobs at the strip club to meet clients. Cary pleaded no contest felony solicitation of prostitutes on Oct. 16 — at the time he was incarcerated for other crimes — and was sentenced to two years of probation.

On July 31, 2013, Oshkosh Police officers arrested two women, Nakesha J. Davis, 29, and Jasmine D. Green, 20, who were each charged with one count of prostitution.

Davis pleaded no contest on Oct. 24 and was sentenced to 12 months probation. Green, who danced under the pseudonym "Promiscuous," was found guilty at a jury trial on May 19 and was sentenced to 12 months probation.

Green testified during her trial that she came to Oshkosh the last week of July 2013 for the Experimental Aircraft Association's annual AirVenture convention.

Undercover detectives' reports indicate dancers would ask patrons to buy teddy bears for $7.50 to $12 that they could then trade for alcoholic beverages.

Green told an undercover investigator that she was available for more than just dances by using several code words and told them prices would range from $150 to $250 depending on the sex act requested.

Police reports indicate the arrests did not stop the illegal activity. In a May 21 report, an informant told an Oshkosh Police detective that a Naughty Girls dancer had solicited sex acts with several patrons.

Oshkosh Police Chief Scott Greuel declined to comment on the strip club's closure, saying several incidents related to the business remain under investigation.

Nearby residents said they think the strip club's closure is long overdue.

sc- Oshkosh isn't just an airshow,it is an Aviation Event. A big one that I daresay rivals the Paris Airshow. Meaning, consider yourself lucky to get a hotel within 50 miles of OSH during the event if you haven't made reservations months in advance. So, aviation and stripclub affecionados may just get a hotel in Milwaukee, and drive to the show and back in same day. Maybe hit some clubs there or Lake Geneva along the way.
