Police arrested a man who they say ran over a patron in the parking lot of a Fort Myers strip club early Tuesday morning.
Officers were called to Scarlett's Cabaret on Fowler Street just before 2 a.m.
They were told the incident started when Giovanni Alberto Cardona, 21, was yelling at a woman inside the club.
He left, according to police, but as he began driving in reverse through the parking lot, he stopped to yell at patrons who were in the parking lot.
The victim walked up to Cardona's car and told him to leave.
Police say Cardona threw the vehicle into reverse and backed over the victim, stopping when he struck an air conditioning unit behind the building.
Cardona drove off. A witness followed him to his south Fort Myers home while on the phone with 911 dispatchers.
Lee County deputies caught up with Cardona there and detained him for Fort Myers police.
Cardona is charged with hit and run involving serious injury, hit and run involving property damage, DUI involving serious injury, DUI involving property damage and DUI.
I'm surprised anyone is awake in Fort Myers at 2 am.
