Interesting. I wonder how much is due to union compared to the fact peep show places in general are on decline due to Internet. The peep show place in Dayton Ohio also closed recently.

This was a peep show and not a dance club.

Strippers have to become true Geishas and/or good lap dancers

The article says it was a matter of nonrenewal of the lease, landlord just walking away from the table, so it's probably the landlord just deciding that they can not give a weak tenant any more breaks when they can make more money with a different use. The short notice would suggest there are offers or at least opportunities the landlord fears missing if there was no prompt action. As mentioned in the article the L.L. has been an employee-owned company/co-op, margins were probably not too great at their best.

But Lord, please, not another *&^%$# Deja Vu franchise to take over, it would be what, the 8th in those same two blocks?

I am surprised they even lasted this long on the peep show model, I believe that line of business was doomed when the first Web Cam turned on

Now that's a bittersweet note, less than a month ago I went past it on a tour and it was mentioned as a very notable thing "Oh, yes, it's the club run by the girls, the Lusties actually have shares in the business" (and someone in the back said "I'm sure they share a lot"). In the end, the forming of the "union" 16 years back was about quality-of-workplace issues, which I can see as a worthy effort for the women in this line of work.

Cheo_D - It Appears that Deja Vu is behind the shut down.

Huh... If you can't beat 'em, run 'em out of town. I wonder how many times DV tried to buy out the Ladies before going for just getting rid of them. Were probably doomed anyway but it's fascinating how SF could not sustain alternatives to the DV monopoly.

All of California is getting its comeuppance - it's a capitalistic society people, not socialist - got to make money, otherwise you got to own the building!

Sadly, deogol, the U.S. is *not* a capitalist economy. In fact, it's more fascist than anything else at the moment.

I'm normally pretty neutral about politics (care more about what will happen than what should happen), but it's just disgusting the more we learn about the extent of NSA activities. Fuck you, Mr Obama!
