Even with strip clubs, brands matter.

The owners of a planned strip club near Miami Springs have signed a licensing deal with one of the largest adult-film companies in the country. What was going to be called Club Wet instead will open next month as Vivid Live, according to a press release issued Monday. Vivid produces adult films (and recently signed former Anthony Weiner acquaintance Sydney Leathers for a short titled “Weingergate”). This year it launched an arm that licenses its brand to strip clubs across the country.

The Miami location is set to open Sept. 12 in a former Pleasure Emporium site at 7020 NW 72nd Ave., outside the Miami Springs city limits. The owner of a company running the new club, Michael Pulwer, is an owner at South Beach's Pleasure Emporium, an erotic-goods shop on Fifth Street, according to state business records.

Jackie Martin, director of communications for Vivid, which is based in Los Angeles, said the owners of the former Club Wet “prefer to remain anonymous.”

A press release says the new establishment will target a “decidedly affluent” demographic with 26 private suites, complimentary limousine service for VIP guests, and “exquisite gourmet meals” that will include seafood and carved-meat buffets

May I say, in all fairness it does sound like a major step up from "Club Wet" if you're looking for an affluent clientele. Then again it IS Dade County....

And so Vivid is now going to follow on the footsteps of Penthouse and Hustler and rent the name to strip clubs? Did not know that.

There are b/w 30 to 35 SCs in Miami-Dade county alone not counting the other two major adjacent So. FL counties (Broward & Palm Beach).

If they pump a lot of $$$ into the club; then I imagine it will do well - but I wonder if the dancer supply is being stretched too thin.

The club has been listed on TUSCL for a few months now under the name "Wet Gentlemens Club" w/ a link to its website.. The website used to only say "Coming Soon" but now it has info on it asking for employees.

P_C, yes, there have been visits to the area in the last year where the pickings have seemed mighty slim. It's interesting, how of the current-generation big-aspirations GCs "branded" after some other major adult entertainment media house(*), there seems to be not one "Larry Flynt's Hustler" or "Penthouse" franchisee in SE Florida, and Vivid would blaze the trail, as it were.

(* BTW, that is different from saying there are no outlets of Big Corporate Stripping: in Dade there are Tootsie's which is part of Rick's, and PT's under the VCGH umbrella. But you have to get to Broward to get clubs using one of the more recognizable franchise brand names (Cheetah) and to WPB for one of the major multinational brands (Spearmint Rhino))
