WATERLOO, Iowa — Two people have been hospitalized and a third is behind bars following a fight at a strip club early this morning.

Officers were called to Flirts, 319 Jefferson St., shortly before 2 a.m. today (Friday) for a large fight. Police found two men — Michael Lloyd, 36, and Jose Herrera, 35, both of Waterloo — with serious injuries.

Both were taken to Allen Hospital, where one was found to be suffering from a brain bleed and was flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. The other had a broken jaw and a number of facial fractures.

Witnesses told police that Anthony Ondre Burt, 24, assaulted the two and even kicked at least one of them while they were on the ground, court records state.

Officers stopped a Dodge Intrepid that was leaving that area. Burt was a passenger, and he was arrested for two counts of willful injury causing serious injury. His bond was set at $150,000.

The driver, Lawrence Cottrell Smith, 22, of Waterloo, was arrested for carrying weapons, operating while intoxicated and third-degree fraud.

Police found a loaded 9mm Ruger handgun in his pants pocket. They also found an EBT card that was issued to another person in his wallet.
