BLUEFIELD[WV] — A Mercer County man was arrested today on attempted murder charges stemming from an incident early this morning at the Sweet Dreams strip club on Grassy Branch Road outside of the Bluefield city limits.
Richard Saunders, 22, of Bluefield was arrested on two counts of attempting to commit felony murder, eight counts of wanton endangerment and one count of malicious wounding, according to Det. Cpl. L.B. Murphy of the Mercer County Sheriff's Department.
“A fight started inside the nightclub,†Murphy said. “That fight was broken up, and another fight ensued in the parking lot after the parties exited the bar.†Murphy said that another individual that he did not identify, broke the window in a vehicle that two victims were attempting to leave in. Saunders allegedly fired into the vehicle, wounding one of the victims.
Murphy said that investigators are still attempting to locate other individuals who may have some information about the crime.
