A South Side strip club patron was shot Wednesday morning after refusing to give money to a group of men who robbed the place after a dancer accused them of stealing, police said.
The stripper told police she was dancing for two men at the MVP Club in the 3700 block of Roosevelt Avenue about 4 a.m. when she noticed $30 was missing from the stage. She said she confronted one of the men about the missing money, and his companion became angry.
The second man pulled a handgun and pointed it at the dancer, and the first man grabbed it and said he was going to rob everyone, a police report says.
The pair went around the club demanding money and valuables at gunpoint while a third person collected the items, the report says.
One of the men at the club, Phillip Arredondo, 37, told police he refused to give them money and a scuffle ensued.
One of the robbers shot Arredondo in the right forearm, and the thieves fled in an SUV, the report says.
Police were chasing the SUV when it wrecked at Steves Avenue and Hackberry Street on the East Side. Two people were arrested — one of the three who'd been at the club and a fourth person, police said.
Arredondo was treated for his wound but refused to be hospitalized.
Police identified one of the suspects Wednesday afternoon as Israel Rivera Cuellar, 20. He was charged with aggravated robbery, and bail was set at $50,000.
