79 arrested on drugs, prostitution charges by undercover officers

Metro Police's undercover detectives charged 79 this week with mostly drug and prostitution offenses.

South Precinct detectives charged 14 people as the result of investigations on Linbar Drive, Wallace Road, Edmondson Pike, and Murfreesboro Pike. They seized four pounds of marijuana, 11 grams of cocaine, two guns and one gram of heroin.

Hermitage Precinct detectives charged 15 as the result of investigations on Murfreesboro Pike at Spence Lane, Plus Park Boulevard, Lewis Street at Lafayette Street, Windemere Circle, Murfreesboro Pike at Thompson Lane, Dabbs Avenue, and Lincoya Drive. They seized eight grams of cocaine, 516.5 grams of marijuana, 103 pills, one gun and $3,157.

West Precinct detectives charged 17 persons as the result of investigations on Archer Street, Newton Street, Susannah Court, and the 1400 block of Charlotte Pike. They seized 31.2 grams of cocaine, 87.8 grams of marijuana, seven pills, one gun and $10,014.

North Precinct detectives charged 15 persons as the result of investigations on 39th Avenue North, Waggoner Court, Gallatin Pike, Anna Court, and Knight Drive. Officers took in 2.2 grams of cocaine, 49.1 grams of marijuana, four Ecstasy pills, 47 various pills, four guns and $942.

East Precinct detectives charged 13 persons as the result of investigations in the James Cayce public housing development and on Litton Avenue, Dickerson Pike, and Trinity Lane. Police seized 8.8 grams of crack-cocaine, 18.8 grams of marijuana, 1.5 grams of methamphetamine and 10 pills.

Central Precinct detectives charged five people as the result of investigations in the Cheatham Place public housing development and on Jefferson Street and 10th Avenue North.

Anyone suspecting drug activity in their neighborhoods are urged to call the police department's 244-DOPE hotline. Callers to the hotline can remain anonymous.
