Candy Girl: A Year in the Life of an Unlikely Stripper

Diablo Cody went from stripper, to blogger, to author, to Oscar-winning screenwriter of Juno, to creator, writer and executive producer of Showtime's United States of Tara. Here she writes about her year as a Minneapolis stripper (Déjà Vu), peep show girl (Sex World), and phone sex operator. Well written, and a great read.

Hey sam, thanks for the book! 3 or 4 chapters all the time for tonight...made shortcut, will read more...interesting, easy to envision what she describes.

    Pretty entertaining.

I knew there were some wierdos that went to the clubs, but I didn't know there were so many. Sheesh.

It seems to be an accurate report of stripper life. One thing she didn't write about was the favorite/regular relationships which make up a big part of SC culture, and a significant portion of stripper income.

Jeez. "Film noir" is the only way to describe that prose.
