Bogart's in Inkster, MI, Henry the VIII North (H8N) in Inkster, Henry the VIII South (H8S) in Southgate, and John's Hot Spot, in Belleville.

A lot has been written about these clubs. Why write anything else? Well, because I enjoy these clubs, and even though each one is an incredible dive, they are all different and each has its charms in some weird way.

Bogart's:
Definitely the most upbeat, most "happening" of the four. Current trend is towards younger and younger dancers. On my last visit, I swear there were several that looked underage. Lights are relatively bright, music is loud, almost too loud to carry on a conversation. On a Saturday night, this is the busiest. Very few of the dancers will not do extras of some sort, including FS and BJ. Dancers can be very aggressive when dancer to customer ratio is high. Probably the least laid-back as well; only place I've ever been told to order another drink or get out. Shot girls are also pretty persistent. Dancers on stage can put on a pretty good show - very athletic, many are slender hardbodies. Older, more curvy dancers are getting squeezed out. Music is a mixture of pop, rock, some country, kid rock, strip club "classics".

Henry the VIII South:
Probably the last refuge of older dancers in the twilight of their careers. Extras are the norm. This place also takes "run down" to the extreme. Seats on the chairs in the VIP are all ripped and cut; the restroom looks like it belongs in a Flint gas station; benches in upper seating area are not securely attached; stacks of chairs are piled in the corners. Entire place is pretty dark, including the stage, which lacks any kind of spotlight on the performer, and that's generally a good thing. On the upside, if you like women who are "experienced", know what they're doing, have big natural or big enhanced breasts, and who know you're there for satisfaction, this might be your place. Also, if you think "sexy" has as much or more to do with how a woman acts than how she looks, you will like it here. VERY laid back, neighborhood bar. Music is not so loud, better for talking. Drink prices are a bit lower here than any of the other three. Mostly classic rock.

Henry the VIII North:
Kind of a mixed bag. A lot of dancers work both Bogarts and H8N, so there are some young hard bodies and some older hang-ons, overweights, etc. Bar is also quite dark, but at least the stages are lit pretty well. Layout is pretty funky, but there's something for every viewer type. Condition is similar to H8S. My favorite place to sit is in a row of bar stools that is set back from one of the stages, and only has access from the ends. Prevents sneak attacks, yet waitresses have easy access over the bar. Great for pre-VIP contact. Mostly classic rock, not as loud as Bogart's.

John's Hot (Wet) Spot:
Kind of a strange place. If Hamilton didn't have tons of money, and enjoy sticking it to the local government, this place probably would have been closed years ago. Hard to imagine they make any money - sometimes the customers are easily outnumbered by the wait staff and security, let alone the dancers. Probably the only reason he rebuilt after the Leggs Lounge fire in 2008 was because local government didn't want him to. Anyway, place is very very laid back. Dancers will sit and talk with you a long time - hours - because they have nothing better to do. Actually, that's not fair. Some of them seem to actually like doing that - many have worked at Bogart's, for example, and didn't like the frenetic pace or ultra competitive atmosphere. Overall, dancers are a strange mix of old & overweight, old and well kept, young and overweight, unattractive at any age, young, good looking and inexperienced, etc. I think some dancers use it as a training ground. Physically, the interior is in much better shape than any other Hamilton club - because of the recent fire. Also more brightly lit, even than Bogart's. Layout is very wide open - one large stage with 3 poles in the center, booths and tables on 3 sides, very long bar with a long table so you can sit facing the stage (with bar behind you). 3 steps up, where the VIP is, there are also some tables where you can sit and look down on the stage. Music is strip club classics, plus more hip-hop than you usually hear in the other clubs. Music can be too loud, and sound system is not the greatest - more distortion than I like. And, just a heads up... local cops use the parking lot as a prisoner exchange point - cops from one jurisdiction will meet cops from the adjacent jurisdiction to deliver prisoners. You can pull up and find two cop cars sitting next to each other in the parking lot, but have no fear...
Spy: John's Hot Spot a "prisoner exchange" point? Charming! What I saw at Bogart's on a Saturday night almost turned my "outie" into an "innie", and I'm not talking about my belly button.... Weekday day shift at Bogart's was surprisingly good.
