Review of Jiggles (third night of operation)

I went to Jiggles for the first time on Sat. Dec. 18, 2010 (its third night of operation), app. 10:15 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. I definitely plan to return. I hope the zoning issue is resolved and the club stays open. There is no off-street parking. However, free valet parking is available. I chose to park on the street and did find a few available parking spaces a block south on Roosevelt Ave. Admission is $10 and a one-drink (non alcohol) is $5. Upon entering the club, it's obvious that it wasn't built as a strip club. The floor plan is a bit awkward: After the lobby, there's a long hallway to traverse before going through a swinging door that gives the impression that maybe you're entering a restaurant kitchen, instead of the main floor of a strip club. The bathrooms are in this hallway and the men's room was clean, well-stocked, and had a nice appearance.

The main floor of the club changed little from when it was a comedy club. New lighting was added for the stage, but the old tables and chairs from the previous era, are not typical strip club furniture. The best thing about the club itself was the VIP area. It has very private booths with high sides and nicely upholstered. The booths seemed to offer the most privacy of all the strip clubs in the Puget Sound region—exceeding Little Darlings, in my opinion. The lighting in the VIP area varies, depending upon where you sit, because there are only a few light fixtures that cover that part of the club. You can get very bright, to very dark lighting because of this. Better still, is that you get all this for only $20. lap dances! As far as supervision of the VIP, there are no cameras, and it seemed that a manager only came around once every four or five songs.

I was particularly attracted to the club because another poster on TUSCL mentioned a lot of thick girls (my type) were there. I did find that to be true, but other body types were there as well. There were Caucasian and African-America dancers there. I didn't notice any other ethnicities represented. Thirteen girls were working that night, and all of them that I talked to, came from other clubs in the area. The song length seemed very good, although I didn't time them. I was there for three hours. During that time, the DJ's operation was very simple. It was just song after song after song. No specials were offered, as the Déjà vu clubs in the area do. An occasional break song was played while the waitresses performed stage maintenance. Only about a third of the seats were full. I sense that there would have been many more dancers and customers, had the zoning not been an issue, with everyone wondering if this club can stay open. It certainly appears to have opened without full city approval. I had a great time that night and plan to return soon. I just hope the club stays open.
