Pinks, Formerly Hawaii Theatre

Swung by the former Hawaii Theatre. For those of you who did not already know this site is going to become a new club run by Spearmint Rhino Corporate but being the first of a new nameplate for them, Pinks.
The new sign was already up, and it is far more restrained than the glaring flashing lights of the old facade, which will certainly be welcome to the neighbors. There was also a new sign with the hours: 11AM-2AM Sun-Wed, 11AM-3AM Thursday and 11AM-4AM Friday and Saturday.
For those of you who visited the old club you may recall that there was a walkway to the right of the club that went to the parking behind. That aisleway is not blocked off with a storefront and a door. That means that the new club is expanding into the square footage of the walkway plus the square footage of the business on the other side of the walkway, which I believe was a massage parlor. There is still a massage parlor on the other walkway which remains. A rough guess is that this will be somewhat less than a doubling of the old square footage.
In addition it looks like the new door in the former walkway will be the new main entrance and the old door will be exit only. There was a wall much too close to the old door to be a lobby so I am guessing that it was a light lock. (A light lock is a little zig-zag that blocks direct sunlight when the door is opened so that people in the dark club are not blinded when somebody enters or leaves during the daytime. The light lock wall was covered by a shiny black wallpaper with golden veining. It gave me the impression that it wasn't going to be quite as industrial as it might but that it was still not going to be going with the wood-and-brass 'TGI Fridays' look that has become sort of cliche among 'upscale' clubs.
Judging from peeking in the door I would say that they had a few weeks' worth of work to do before being able to open.
That's too bad. I'm going to that area next week, would've been fun to see a brand spanking new club, maybe even enjoy some kind of discount offer during opening day/week, if they were to have something like that =)

@Boss435 Difficult to say, it depends on if they are loyal to the management (and stay at TL in Upland) or if the location is more convenient to them. On the other hand since the management is SR I suspect that the business practices will be more like them.

    FURTHER UPDATE

There is now additional signage. The main entrance will be right next to the exit I described in the prior post but there was a paper sign directing job applicants to the door in what used to be the hallway.

Permitting issues may hold up opening, apparently.

@JYosa: if the Tribune article is right then they really put the cart before the horse. Anyway they appear to be hiring.
