I have visited Mons Venus on...

I have visited Mons Venus on several occasions this year. As mentioned by others the club used to be Mermaids which had a glass tank full of water, the tank is gone but the girls slide down a pole on to the main stage from the platform that was used for getting into the tank. The bar is located to the left, coming into the club, with the main stage is directly in front of you and a smaller stage located towards the back wall. The main stage has two poles, the other has one. There is a bar around each stage, although the secondary stage is much lower at normal chair height, with seating around most of the stage. There are stairs up to the private rooms which are located over the entrance. The place is clean and tidy, not exactly inspiring but the decor isn't why you come here.

Cover charge is $20 but if you get in before 10pm then you get $30 in Mons Venus money to use for tips or buying drinks, because they give them to you in $5 notes I use them mainly for drinks. As usual for strip clubs in New Zealand drinks are expensive at about $8 for a Heineken. The Mons Venus money can be bought dollar for dollar and they normally give you $2 notes, this can be used for buying drinks and tipping the girls. At the end of the night the Mons Venus dollars can be changed back to normal money other than if you got the $30 entry before 10pm as this has been specially marked.

The girls are generally friendly and not too pushy for private dances. The dancing varies from quite good to very amateur. It is strange that generally once you've tipped the girl she moves on straight away, so don't be too quick to tip. I always sit at the main stage and tip the girl every time she comes around which is often only once during her routine. Normally there are two girls on stage having slid down the main pole about 30 seconds apart. The girls are generally dressed in two piece lingerie/bikini and strip off the top at the beginning of the second song and their panties at the beginning of the third song. They will typically work their way around the stage, at approximately opposite sides from each other. After they've finished they work around the club asking for more tips.
