I stopped by the Bouzouki Club...
I stopped by the Bouzouki Club on a Wednesday and stayed through the evening. This club is kitty-corner from the Greektown casino. My buddy just got elimated from the poker tournament so we dropped into Zooks. The inside was pretty typical for a strip club. There is a large stage in the middle of the room with two poles on it. A bar is along one wall. The lap dance area is along the wall opposite of the bar, slightly elevated and walled off. There are no booths in the lap dance area, but it is fairly dark. It is a common room where you can voyeur others getting dances. There is a second large room with a stage, but it was not in use while I was there. The DJ was pretty quiet and played rock and hip hop. I ordered dinner here, and it was unexpectedly tasty. Who would have thought a strip club would have legitimate food? The club can take food orders for the adjacent restaurant. From what I am told, the same person owns the whole block.
The dancers were surprisingly hot for downtown Detroit, although I got the feeling many came into town to work the Tigers and Red Wings crowds that evening. Some of the girls even had Detroit Tigers bikinis. They ranged from 5's to 9's, mostly on the higher end of the spectrum and mostly white. Dances were $20 and the mileage was good. I don't think "the ordinance" has taken effect yet. I was having such a good time, I ended up getting twenty-eight lap dances ($560, 1.5 hours worth) split between four different dancers. I'll definately go back next time I am in the Motor City.
