Thunder Road, formerly known as Club 64, looks rough on the outside, but the owner has done a lot on the inside and it looks pretty nice. While the Hollywood Showclub a few miles away in Washington Park is ranked #21 overall on TUSCL, Hollywoods old Nagel decor is just plain dated, and I would actually rank Thunder Roads interior nicer, except for it's restrooms, which are still just one step above appalling.

Drink prices are high at Thunder Road. That would be ok if the club offered premium entertainers, but it doesn't. The high drink prices do help keep out the riff raff, which is the only upside. Premium drinks are not available, if you attempt to order a bottle of Dom Perignon you will get the deer in the headlights look from the bartender.

The bar does a good job of making everyone feel welcome, and you'll see every ethnic group there, everyone being cool with each other, which is nice. I'd guess a rough breakdown would be 50% white patrons, 40% black, 10% other.
