I decided to make the long drive to Tijuana over Memorial Day weekend and hang with the chicas at Adelita's. I'm glad I did!! I started my occasional visits to Adelita's about 8 years ago. My last was awhile ago due to safety concerns. But I recently read in the LA Times that tourism in Tijuana was coming back. So I decided to see for myself.

I parked my car and crossed the border at San Ysidro. I carried an overnight bag that was searched by a heavily armed Mexican soldier. No problem there. I was glad to see the Mexican authorities were serious about getting things back to normal.

After going through a second security gate, I was met by a taxi driver who took me to the hotel where I would stay for the night before driving home the next morning. The fare was $5 + $1 tip. I checked into the hotel, dropped off my bag and took another taxi to Adelita's!
