The Blockist has a tendency to bypass the Chez Joey - not because the club is below par for the Block but because it's usually right about at par and I'm typically in the mood for above par. I might stop in, but seldom stop over. I have a bit of nostalgia for CJ - in the Block's haydey it was one of the best. The bar-level stage surrounded by a brass rail and the dancers accepting tips by strolling down the bar top are unique. The on-stage shower fixture hasn't been used for quite a while, but it's still there. There is a hidden art treasure concealed behind the stage mirrors and the black curtain at the back - a huge bas relief 1880's Paris nightclub scene that covers the entire wall. Why the owners covered it up I'll probably never understand, but the Block isn't really about art... However, I digress. Nicole the daytime bartender is making a difference. A couple of the dancestaff she has gathered around her are quite comely and accomodating. Definitely worth a stop - maybe even a stopover.
