After hearing rumors of troubles or declines, I made the rounds of my favorite D.C. strip clubs to check on conditions, visiting each club at least three times at different times of day in April. DC clubs are limited by local laws, so there are no lap-dancing or VIP room experiences. But none of the clubs has a cover charge; all are open until about 2am, or 3am on weekends. Camelot on M Street is well located for workweek afternoon and evening patrons; it opens about 1PM and mostly caters to men with coats, and couples. The 2-story club is narrow and deep with one medium-sized stage (well-lit) on each floor - and the associated stripper poles are well used by some dancers. The 1st floor stage is somewhat elevated, so dancers are high and customers eyes are often at breast level when leaving tips, which can be placed on the stage or under garters. There is a small bar area on each floor but most seating is at tables. There are TV screens at each end of the room downstairs for checking sports events. Normal drinks are $10-$12. The food is good and is a relative bargain.

Camelot has many attractive dancers; most are really good dancers and a few enjoy performing in pairs once or twice an hour. The dancers circulate for tips after being on stage, but they didn’t hassle anyone I saw. At least one attractive dancer has been there for over ten years; she was an excellent dancer and lends an air of stability to the place. On my recent night-time visits I found a nice mix of dancers with different looks, about as high a quality as I have ever seen there. My favorites were Ashley, Felisha, Ginger, Sheena, and Tina - and I saw many others whose names I don’t recall. Dancers schedules are not posted online but those on duty each shift are listed on a sign on the outside front of the club. Supporting staff members were exceptionally polite and helpful; once when I was seeking a particular dancer, one greeter spent some time checking an inside schedule to let me know when she was there last and when she would next be there dancing. Really thoughtful. Dancers circulate freely between the floors but when both floors are open in the evenings, customers must close their accounts on one floor before moving to the other, a bit of trouble when trying to keep up with particular dancers. But in conclusion this club seemed in good shape and had the greatest number of attractive dancers of the three clubs I visited. So this club seemed to be in good shape and most dancers and customers were quite happy, providing a excellent experience.
