Last weekend (second weekend in October...

Last weekend (second weekend in October 2004) I went to Austin on a vacation weekend. Made a point to stop in on some of the local club action. The second club I visited, the one we choose for Saturday night, was the Yellow Rose. Good Choice.

We arrived in the 10:00 hour on Sat night. Club was open until 3 but my friend had the poor taste to do well in the event we were primarily in Austin for, which menas he needed to be up and coherant at 8:00 am. So no allnighters :( Club was hopping at 10 but was definitely not at capacity. We didn't get carded (my friend is 27 but looks like he is 18...we ALWAYS get carded) but the bouncer gave us a hard eye. He knew we were legal and it was classy to not hassle us. Had we brought the kids though, it would definitely have been hassle time.

Once we cleared the cover barrier (think it was $10), we were greeted by a waitress at the door. This was a first. She asked if we would like a table and we said sure. She asked where we would like to sit and we said at the stage (of course). Many seats were empty at the stage but she lead us around the whole stage and then explained that they were all reserved. She led us to the back corner of the club next to the bar. I thought, "Oh great. The night is over. We are in the back corner and no dancer will ever see us." But it was a table...we can always focus on moving once we are settled. I sat in the corner of the entire club and I must say it was cool to have two walls at your back and the ability to see the entire club.
