Every few months, I have to...
Every few months, I have to drive to Riverside on business and I usually manage to stop at the Hawaii on my way back. As others have noted here, it's in a little strip mall and parking, at least during the day, is easy. I don't know what the admission price is as I haven't paid it in a long time. Every time you get a VIP lap here, the dancer will present you with one or more free admission passes.
The guy at the door may or may not be nice and may or may not search you as he makes sure you don't have a cellphone camera. Then you walk into pitch black. You stumble (literally, sometimes) to a chair. Then the waitress hits you up for a drink. Then dancers start descending on you even before your eyes adjust to see if they can sell you a dance and the waitress hurries back to ask if you'd like to buy a drink for the lady who's talking to you. I always decline to buy the dancer a drink and there are no hassles. I always tell the dancers that I'm not buying any dances until my eyes adjust and I get settled. Amazingly, some dancers will then leave and never come near you again. Don't these ladies understand that sometimes "maybe later" means "maybe later"?
Then I scope out the dancers. This isn't easy since the place is dark, some dancers never make it up onto stage and you can't understand 90% of what the disc jockey says when he introduces them. But eventually you get a look at some of them. I always rule out the ones who are tattooed or pierced and that eliminates at least half. But I usually find one or two that I like and really, one is all it takes.
