Just my luck I was out...
Just my luck I was out of town for a bit and when I returned I found out my all-time favorite strip-club had been raided. I don't want to say " I saw it coming" (no pun intended) but the ancillary crime (as opposed to the usual strip-club shenanigans) caused the police to take notice. All it takes is a cranked-up teen or young gangbanger to find out his babe hasn't been behaving to start shooting anyone who disses him. Warning to Club Managers and DJ's ;when you start playing rap or cranking up the hip-hop, either as requests from the "playas and wiggas" or from the girls..you are just lighting the fire for future gang activity in and outside the club.
So it goes, but on my last visit the day I was to leave back to Cali, I had some time to kill and decided to visit the club. My last visit was only days after the raid and the girls were still too edgy and nervous to give even the most innocent of "naughty" laps. Well this was about 2-3 weeks after that and I saw one or two regulars and one thing I notices is that some of the more liberal dancers, the ones who were left after the "purge" that sent many of the more, let's say, "adventurous" dancers packing, had changed their stage names. Luckily, one recognized me and came over to where I was siting and reflected on the recent changes. Needless to say, if you are a "regular" to some of the dancers, you will get the same great full service as you received before the raid although a lot more surreptitious and NOT in the VIP, regulars will know what I'm talking about.
One other note to pass on; As I was visiting the john the actual OWNER of the club came in with a contractor. The owner has nothing to do with setting the policies or day-to-day activities of the club. The Manager does that, and for many years it was Steve. He's gone, as well as some of the dancers, bartenders and waitresses. They did not totally clean house but a lot of familiar faces are gone. The owner was deep into talking with the contractor about physical changes to the club. As I was there they talked about redoing the Men's bathroom. which is relatively clean and in good working order for many years I have been at the club. Well, that as well as a whole bunch of changes are on the horizon. Some, no doubt will be for the bad, strip club speaking, but the owner intend to arrest the slow deterioration of the club by renovation. I heard of no time line. It will probably depend on pending legal action on the club by the city, but IF the club stays open, it will be in for some changes in the near future.
