Play House is another of my...
Play House is another of my regular favorites to check out every time I vist the Detroit area. But I do believe this run is over. I was there late in the afternoon very close to 7:00, shift-change time.
There were maybe six girls working, but only three or four of them were to be seen at one time. The place was pretty dead. I really wasn't interested in dancing with any of them. And I politely declined the company of one and then another. Finally, at just about before 7:00 I relented and went up to dance with this little blonde. The dances (just two) were pretty bland. But I did glean some information that will turn me against this club forever. As I was doing the second dance, it seemed to me that the dance was shorter than usual. I remarked about it to the dancer, who told me that the dances are shorter on the night shift. (The shift had just changed.) As I sat by the bar, I timed the songs on my wrist watch, which has a stop watch in it. The songs averaged from two minutes and fifteen seconds to two minutes and twenty seconds, pretty consistenly. WTF! I refuse to patronize a club that will short its customers that way. It's like Spearmint Rhino in the City of Industry in Southern California. Two minute dances. I haven't been there in three years after I realized that. And I won't be back to Play House. The quality of the women has seriously deteriorated over the years. Now they are charging $25 for little more than a two-minute dance. And I believe that the afternoon shift dances are just a little longer than three minutes. Forget it! It used to be that the dances at Play House were exceptionally long. That was one of the things I liked about it. Now some new a-hole manager or owner has devised a way to give less value for the money. Worse girls. Less time. No more!
