One of my stops on the post-ordinance tour in Detroit, Friday, April 9, 2010. When I asked about VIP, I was told by an average looking dancer (Jasmine) that the six foot rule was in effect, but the $20.00 dance charge was the same. Another dancer claimed that nothing had changed and she offered to prove it. I declined both offers as this was just an afternoon visit. Mixed drinks in the afternoon are $12.00 at the bar. Now that's an all time high. Dancer mixed drinks with the mark-up are $15.00. The club had 5 patrons on this special afternoon. Special because it was opening day for the Detroit Tigers and most bars with big screens have something special going on. (Yes, the few people who have jobs will skip work for the home opener.) Cheetah had the space, four big screen TVs, but no crowd. Nor, did I see any ads in the entertainment papers. I hope that this is not the beginning of the end for Eight Mile Road clubs. I have more stops to make.
