The venue itself was smaller than expected but quite well arranged, not really suitable for a large crowd. A bit too dark inside to see anything from any distance especially after the smoke machine was used.

The signs that were put out on the footpath said "live nude girls" they were alive but not enthusiastic or even happy looking and they didn't get nude, at least not in the public area. Mostly they were unattractive to low average with pot bellies. Two were quite good looking, slim with nice legs.

Being a weeknight it was fairly quiet with only a small crowd. The girls took turns on the small stage doing not much at all for the duration of a couple of songs finishing topless then approached every man in the room individually and asked for a tip. A couple of them got abusive when they didn't get one. You have to buy tipping dollars at a price of $5.00 each so your wallet empties quickly and you can't help feeling very ripped off. To make my money last longer I decided to only tip the couple that I thought had earned it, to my surprise one of the others assured me that the one I was tipping most had gone home so I might as well give my money to her instead. The one she tried to cheat out of tips was sat at the bar and came back on next. Every so often a woman's voice was heard through the speakers telling the audience "the more you pay the more they play" I watched as one of the girls came on wearing the same outfit she wore every time, took her top off and accepted about $70 worth of tip notes from the guys around the edge of the small stage. She then visited everyone else collecting donations and that was it, show over from her.

I have been to a few strip clubs in Australia and the performers start off wearing elaborate costumes and have rehearsed acts that last up to fifteen minutes ending fully nude and don't ask for tips.

Calendar Girls in Christchurch was very disappointing. Low grade entertainment and expensive.
