Went to Austin this weekend for a good time. Over the course of the weekend, I went to three clubs in four trips. XTC was the last one, and I probably wouldn't have tried it but for a friend who was only 18 and REALLY wanted to try a club. So I took him to XTC on Sunday afternoon. I heard about this club on the net and knew that it was an all-nude juice bar that was 18 and up.

Got there about 4 pm in the afternoon. Parking lot was full, which was impressive for a Sunday afternoon. The exterior parking was about perfect. On Sunday afternoon. So it must be atrocious on Saturday night. Plus, it wasn't free...we were charged $5. Next, we went in and the host asked for a $10 cover. On Sunday afternoon. At this point, it was clear that this club was not my personal style. But I try to keep an open mind and my friend was 18, so this was the only option I knew of. So we headed on in.

I have to say the club look is inspired. There are a lot of clubs that could take a page from their book. The club is all small tables with 2-3 chairs each. Each table has a candle on it. The walls all had mirrors around the club which gives that "larger than it is" impression. There are 3 stages, a main stage near the front across from the bar, a second on the back wall, and a third in center on the southern side of the club. The area behind the third stage was closed, because it wasn't busy, so it wasn't needed. The stages were ringed in small yellow lights, about the same size as the lights in the candles. So the entire room and the mirrored views of the room is dotted with tiny yellow lights which is a great effect. It was impressive and probably the thing this club did best.
