None of the Albuquerque clubs are...

None of the Albuquerque clubs are great, but TD's North is probably the best. It is a dark club, which is good, and there are several nooks and crannies in which one can get a relatively private dance on the floor. There are bench style seating along most of the walls and that is the best place to get a dance on the floor. There is a VIP area, which has a $20 entrance fee, but that fee is usually waived during the day when things are slow. Dances in the VIP area are $25 as opposed to $10 on the floor. I have never had a dance in the VIP room. With the right dancer, the dances on the floor are pretty good. Having said that, several dancers have hinted that better times can be had in the VIP room than on the floor. One of these days I will try it out and post it here, but those promises are often empty when I have tried them at other clubs. There is no cover during the day.

There are two stages: a large main stage and a smaller second stage. When things are slow there is only one dancer on the main stage. They usually dance two songs then. When things pick up there is a dancer on each stage. They dance a song on one stage and then rotate to the other stage. When things get really busy there are two dancers on the main stage and one on the second stage. Tipping is done at the stage and what you get for your dollar is usually pretty tame, although that depends ont he dancer. The wait staff is attentive, but not pestering and the dancers are all pretty nice, asking for dances, but not pestering. Some will sit and talk with you for a song or two before asking if you want a dance. As with all Albuquerque bars and restaurants, there is no smoking.

It is one of only two Albuquerque clubs that are open for lunch, so if you want entertainment along with your food, this is the place to head. They have $3 menus for lunch, along with specials, and the food is pretty good, but certainly not gourmet. That is not what you come in for though is it?
