I was in town for the Olympics and had done my research about clubs in Vancouver but it seemed like none were worth it. It would have been a shame not to visit a club in a city I've never visited before so I asked a couple of locals which strip club was the best. I was pointed to this club.
The club is located in a shady looking part of town, but I never felt afraid not even after midnight. Vancouver seems like a very safe city even though there is a higher than usual presence of drug users in the street. Perhaps safety was a concern during the Olympics and police patrols were increased.
The club itself was decent and the beer prices were in line with what bars were charging, about $7.50. The main stage was nice and there is a great view from any seat in the club. Unlike clubs in the USA, customers at the stage were tipping with 5 dollar bills (!). This made sense since Canada does not have a $1 bill, only 1 and 2 dollar coins. I didn't think much of it until I was approached by several dancers and was offered $50 dances. Fifty dollars?!? I figured I was getting ripped off by the first offer, but then about 10 other dancers quoted me the same price. I tried to negotiate with about 5 of them but they weren't having any of it. Coming from Florida where lap dances are $20 I was really shocked. Regardless, I soldiered on and bit the bullet by buying a $50 lap dance. The dance lasted all of 6 minutes and was very much run of the mill. I tried to pick a girl that seemed enthusiastic but clearly her enthusiasm on the floor did not translate to my lap. After the dance I downed my beer and left, only to be greeted by a couple of crack heads asking for money right outside the door.
