Used to like this place as Joy of Austin. Dropped in on Wednesday afternoon. Normal deal has always been $10 dances during the day. It was a fair deal - the dancers here were always reasonably attractive of not quite as hot as places like P10, but friendly and well worth it.

No more. As of my visit literally nothing had changed but the price. Same club, same girls, dances strictly $20. This is right at the transition to Ricks, so maybe they plan to upgrade the talent, but not on my visit. There is talk of more drink specials, but really who cares if a beer is $2 less.

I'm sorry to see this club go. At very best I suppose we'll get another P10/Sugars/Yellow Rose. Let's hope. I fear there will not suddenly be more 8-10 caliber dancers in Austin so they'll just move to Ricks from somewhere else (in the best case for them). Worst case we lose Joy and get some sterile corporate overpriced low mileage club with average dancers catering to people who don't know austin and happen to drive down 35. We'll see and hope for the former.
