I visited Rick’s twice...

I visited Rick’s twice in the last two weeks. The first time was about 7pm on a Friday. (If I’m going there on a Friday or Saturday, I try to get there before other folks show up and the parking and seating become harder.) There were at least 30 dancers and the quality was mainly in the 6-8 range with a couple outside this spectrum on either end. It did look like there was something for everyone’s taste. If you come at this time, be aware that it could be getting toward the end of some dancers' shifts, so you should check out how long she'll be around if she grabs your...attention.

The next week I went during the day (about 2pm), which I’ve never done before, figuring it would be slower and fewer dancers. I actually liked the day better. The overall quality was at least as good as at night, and there were almost as many dancers. It also seems like the dancers are a little more relaxed when there aren’t as many customers to cruise. As everyone mentioned, the $30 is pretty pricy, but my recent experience is that most of the dancers realize that the expectations are higher at these prices, and they get to work efficiently…or maybe I’ve just made some lucky choices!

A couple of suggestions based on my recent experience: 1) It’s hard to predict performance, even if the dancer is hot onstage, so I also try to see which ones stay in the VIP area for shorter or longer times. I figure if she’s back out after one dance she may be low mileage; 2) Even though the VIP area is more private now, you can still at least observe from the main seating area the dancers that do a lot of standing while they are dancing (these are more likely to be the air dancers, rather than the higher mileage ladies); 3) At these prices, the dancer gets one song to prove she’s worth it; if it seems like she’s worth more dances, that’s when I make an offer. 4) Exercise prudence: the last dancer I had told me that the undercover cops were in Rick’s an hour before I arrived and ticketed several dancers.
