El Cabaret Dulce Amante replaced New York, New York. I went on a Friday night around 11pm. There is a $10 cover, plus a 2 drink minimum which is paid before you enter the club. So, just over $20 to get in with two drinks. The club itself hasn't changed hardly at all from when it was NY NY. The seats are fairly comfortable, the lighting is good, and the staff was nice. The music is almost entirely latin, but with a hip hop feel to it. The cutomers are a mix of white and latino, which for me was much more comfortable than many of the other clubs around Memphis. This is a full contact club, which I like. In fact, it reminded me of some of the clubs I've visited south of the border. At first I was very disappointed in the girls though. Some of the girls got on stage and never took anything off and only put the minimum effort into their dance. On top of that, there were only a handful walking around the floor talking to customers. They seemed to disappear into the back as soon as their two song set was done. That continued for about an hour. After midnight though, everything changed. The stage dancing was much better, the thongs were pulled to the side, the tops came off, and many more girls spent time on the floor with the customers. Overall, the girls were about a 6 or 7 out of 10. There were some 8s and maybe a 9 or two depending on your tastes. All of them were natural though...no large breasts to be seen unless the girl was also larger. There were a few with that fresh-faced teen look, and some slightly older. A few seemed to be authentic latinas, and the rest were just local girls with about a 50/50 split ethnic mix, black and white. When they started walking the floor more, I was pleasently surprised at how little they pressured for anything. A few asked for tips for almost no reason, but I was never asked to buy them drinks, which I hate (if I wanted to buy drinks for girls I could just go to a bar with cheaper prices). The waitresses were nice and came around about every 15-20 minutes, even though I stuck to only having my two drink minimum. The one major downside of this club is the price of VIP dances. The price is $20, which is not bad, but then they also charge a $10 house fee per dance making each song $30. The girls don't like this either, so it might not last. The club just opened recently, so I'm sure their management still trying to figure things out. I was there for about three hours, and I never once saw anybody get a couch dance. Overall, I would recommend that people try out the club though and hope they stay open. It's a nice alternative to The Pony with full contact, nudity on stage, similar prices, and about the same quality atmosphere.
