A recent business trip took me...
A recent business trip took me to Weston-Super-Mare for an evening this week, and after a meal, and at the recommendation of the cab driver, me and a couple of acquaintances spent a couple of hours at Vamps. We paid the £5 entry charge and made our way into the club, which at first glance is just like a regular pub. The bar was along one wall with seating opposite it and a couple of pool tables filled the back half of the room. It was only after we'd had a drink that someone pointed out that the actual 'club' was through the doors at the side of the bar.
The club itself is all decked out in red velvet (fake) with a low stage and plenty of seating. There didn't seem to be much in the way of a stage show, though – and in the couple of hours we were there, I only remember seeing one girl go up on stage and dance fully clothed for a single song. That was it. And although there was around forty people there – which about half-filled the place – there were only three girls working. All three were pretty enough (solid 8) white girls in their mid-twenties, although they didn't seem to be very interested in going around and talking to people, or hustling for dances. That is one reason that I didn't have a dance. But I did ask about dances, and was told that they start at £20 for a song, and go upward – and get hotter – from there.
I'm not used to UK clubs, so I don't really know how this compares. It seemed a little expensive when compared to the sort of US clubs that I am used to, but it wasn't expensive enough to be prohibitive. And there weren't many girls, which was a bit disappointing. I can't imagine that I will ever be in Weston-Super-Mare again (visit the place to see why), but if I were there with an evening to spend, I might try this club again, and see what the dances are like. Maybe.
