I've been going to Onyx since...

I've been going to Onyx since they first opened / renamed it in '04 but hadn't been for months until last weekend. If you've never been, expect to see good looking black women with a variety of shapes and colors and sizes. 90% in the 7 to 8 range. Things change frequently at Onyx - there's always some new rule or restriction and over time Onyx has gone from fun to really fun, to the after-party spot, to being totally dead. Competition from HighRollers (and occasionally Treasures) seems to have combined with the economy to give the girls more freedom, as I experienced significantly more mileage then I'm used to at Onyx on this visit. I couldn't tell you if that was because I'm a familiar face or because of the economy (probably both), but its worth noting. A year or so ago, all of Onyx's top faces left for other clubs. This trip, they were all back. Odd.

For a Saturday night, the place was not packed at all. 15 or 20 dancers were there and maybe a total of 40 guys came in and out from 1 to 4am. Not many got dances. Some paid to go to the VIP area, which is another world entirely. The attitude of the girls varies considerably. I spent nearly an hour trying to fend off one of the more aggressive girls who i eventually gave a single $20 dance to. I don't know why she didn't get the hint (i try to be courteous with my rejections) but that's not my typical experience in that regard. The normal Onyx girl will sit next to you or on your lap and strike up a convo- or she'll just say hello - then ask you if you want a dance. If you say yes, great, if you say no, she moves on and might check on you later depending on your reasoning. BUT, I do get the impression that if you turn one girl away, the others who see it will assume you're not spending money, so then you'll have to approach one that you want when you see/find her. It wasn't like that when things were popping off but I guess that's what happens in an empty strip club.
