Inside Rick's there are two small stages with rotating dancers and the floor is filled with small tables and chairs with couches along the walls. There is a separate VIP room with high-walled chairs that allow customers a little pricy privacy. The music is supplied by a DJ with a Barry White-sounding voice that announces the names of the girls on stage before playing the random songs that punctuate each performance.
The skinny on Rick's is that the club is basically all about the "lap dance." The stage show seems to be a formality, and while sitting in front of one of the stages I must have been asked 15 times by different women if I wanted a dance.
Some of the women use the approach of small talk first, then segueing into the $20 question. Some of them even have pick up lines like the one my buddy received from a certain dancer named Mary Jane: "Hey, how would you like to dance with these legs, who-hoo?"
