Stopped by Mermaids early on a...

Stopped by Mermaids early on a Tuesday afternoon. There appeared to be only one other patron in the club at the time. It isn't the most glamorous joint I've been to, but it's no dive by any stretch of the imagination. As you walk in, there's several chairs set up to the left facing a large stage. Not your basic bar stools either, but comfortable plush chairs. From the outside, it doesn't appear to be very large club, but it is surprisingly roomie. If you're sensitive to black lights, you'll want to stay away as this place is illuminated by them. The bar, which is towards the back of the club, isn't very big and has room for four or five patrons. Beer was only $2 a bottle for domestic and I really can't say enough about the bartender. She was a joy to talk with.

There was one girl on stage when I walked into the club and another two near the bar area. These girls aren't going to win any beauty pageants anytime soon, but were still quite attractive. All three were white and appeared to be in their mid-twenties. One had several tattoos and facial piercings, which I personally am into, although I know several others aren't. None of the girls were particularly busty, which again is a downer for some.

For Virginia Beach, Mermaids is pretty solid. Given that it is located in VB, you aren't going to see any girls dancing nude or receive private dances, but that's just how it goes in this city. I'd definitely recommend this place, though. No cover charge, cheap prices at the bar, and good looking dancers. About as good as you can do in the area. I'll definitely return.
