First of all, remember this is...
First of all, remember this is Bakersfield. So don't get your expectations set too high. Don't expect dancers who have moved there for the club scene. Expect to see local grown dancers, and we're talking about Bakersfield. Also, Sunday evening is never a likely time to find the A-Team performing. So maybe other nights the dancers are better.
But the design of the space doesn't do much to help. The dance stage is large enough to allow a dancer to really use the space. The lighting, however, totally sucks. An array of laser starbursts constantly blink and splash across the stage. I found this very distracting and not adequate lighting to see anything. Then there is the rail. The genius who designed the seating must have been built like Yoda. The counter that surrounds the stage is some sort of stone counter top that extends down such that you can't pull up close and get your knees under it. Pretty much forces you to sit back a couple feet from the stage.
None of the dancers were all that attractive, although by the time I left, it looked like a couple better looking girls were arriving. And although I don't have much expectation of seeing good dancing moves, there are some basics that any dancer should be able to do. These girls all seemed wooden and amateurish. They didn't do a very good job of showing their "assets" nor were they any good at working the tease. (I have seen some decidedly mediocre looking dancers do a good job of looking hot by virtue of how they move around on stage. It's not always what you got, but how you use it. These girls seem to be lacking on both counts.)
