Well, this review goes to show...
Well, this review goes to show that nothing good lasts forever. I used to consider 2001 as my favorite club in Tampa, which means my favorite club anywhere based on the sparse club scene where I live. Each visit over the last few years seems to be a little less satisfactory. My visit a couple weeks ago was the worst. The pushy high sell factor has gotten up to an obnoxious level. The girls (probably not all, to be fair) have adopted a used car salesman mentality to club patrons. Case in point - I walked in and a girl was in my grill before I took five steps in the door. Bought my obligatory water and walked to a seat with her in tow. Once the two of us sat down, a waitress came over and asked if I'd buy the lady a drink. Should have refused, as it was $8, but I wanted to have a good time and keep things positive. Then the $5 to get past the gatekeeper and to the back, and then the private dances. They were okay, except she was in my ear the whole time about how much better it would be in the premium areas. I paid her off for the dances, came out of the back and made the quick decision that I didn't want to be hustled anymore. So I did something I've never done there. I left after about 20 minutes in the club. Went across the street. That review will follow later. It's sad to see a formerly great club go down like this. I'm leaning toward not coming back.
