Dropped by Bare Assets on a Friday around 7 PM. There must have been a shift change going on as they rounded up all the girls for a stage review. Usually these reviews end with a special dance offer, but not here. I counted 8 dancers altogether, 7 white and 1 black. All were young and fit and seemed to be in the 7/8 value range. After sitting at the stage and watching and tipping 3 dancers, I got the impression they didn’t care much for the customers. The first dancer’s attitude was at best snotty and she seemed put off by my attempts to tip her. None ever said “thank you†or came around me afterwards or approached me for a dance. Only the waitress came over to get me a $4.00 beer.
The stage as well as the interior of this place is weird. The interior is shaped like a big “L†with the stage stuffed into the corner of the “Lâ€. Its difficult to get close to the stage and when you do its counter top is setup like a string of “Z’s†that forces you to sit in a slot facing away from most of the dancer’s routine. Rubber neckers will like it here. The stage lighting is poor because everything is painted black, the stage floor, ceiling, and countertops. Unless you see well in the dark, it’s difficult to asset any of the bare assets on display here. If you are into good stage dancing, this is not the place to be.
As I got up to leave, I noticed there were only about 5 customers in the place. They have a huge staff here that includes a DJ, a bar tender, 2 waitresses, entry fee girl and about 4 or 5 very large steroid stuffed bouncers wearing all black with “STAFF†stamped on their backs. The bouncers seem to like to congregate at the entrance causing a traffic jam as you try to leave or enter. I have no idea why they need this much security. Maybe this place is better at another time, but it’s certainly not at 7 PM on a Friday.
