Clean club that is holding its own while other Toronto SCs implode
My most recent visit to Brass Rail took place just after midnight on a Saturday. It's now early fall but it was just before the Maple Leafs play their first home game of the season. I mention this because the Rail can reliably be expected to have about a ~30% attendance boost which is reflected in both customers and dancers (plus vibe) on Leaf home game nights. Despite no Leaf home game, this night the club was near capacity - a welcome change from my last visit where the club was oddly about half-full even though that was also a Saturday night.
Never a thug factor to speak of here as they rarely play rap music and ask patrons to remove ballcaps when they enter. Bouncers here take care of that stuff quickly and firmly.
Dancer-wise...well, this place is still relying on a core of dancers that have been here for many, many years. They are attractive, mind you. But if you've been here a few times before, you'll recognize faces. The breakdown was probably 60% white, 15% South Asian (i.e. Indian), 15% black, and 10% East Asian. Lingerie is the clothing of choice with a few girls sporting bikinis. Most girls are in their 30s, and some who are in their 40s but they could pass for 35. A few scattered 20-somethings but they aren't really the norm here. Attractiveness would be 7 to 8.5. Maybe a rare 9 in there.
Music is a mix of rock, contemporary R&B, 90s retro songs, and the *occasional* hip hop song which they may have loosened the rules on lately because that was very rare before this year.
Ordered a Coors Light for $12.25 (holding steady at that price) and tipped the barman. Scoped the scene and saw a young brunette with a fit ass that popped in her thong. She said her name was Sabrina and she was from Montreal. Took her for a few dances which were okay but low contact grind-wise. But her body was great which made them fine overall. Dances are $20 each, fully nude, and there is no cover if you dance on the main floor in one of the two set-apart dance areas. One is near the front and one near the back. We went to the back. I would say the back dance area has probably - now that I think of it - usually offered slightly better contact dances. Though not this time.
It's also fully nude on stage. The Upper Brass is $30 entry but less and less people go up there nowadays as the word is out that dancers will eventually circulate on the lower floor.
The Brass Rail remains a clean club where the look and feel is professional and you can usually have a decent experience. But it hasn't wowed in a very long time and I think the dancer roster and muted atmosphere (as well as cramped walkways) are responsible for that. Still, while other downtown Toronto SCs collapse entirely, unable to roster even ten dancers or get halfway to capacity, the Rail hangs on to respectability. I'll probably be back in a few months because there aren't many better options, certainly not in the city limits.
