My clubtrekking career began at this unpretentious establishment 20 years ago this month when I was in Indy on business (radio at that time) and my host insisted on one more stop. Thank you, Richard J.
At that time it was called Raffters; the interior was unfinished and the girls used the ceiling trusswork as a trapeze, leading to the name, I suppose. There was one long stage and no private dances. Today I normally patronize the Brass Flamingo and Classy Chassis when I'm in the Circle City, but a sentimental trip to 38th at Lafayette was certainly in order to mark the anniversary.
The neighborhood hasn't changed a bit, with every fast food franchise known to man in walking distance and too little parking. The outside hasn't changed more than a coat of paint but the interior has gone upscale with three circular stages, carpet, and light show. I prefer the corner bar ambience of the Brass Flamingo, but it's not bad. Of course there are now lapdances as well.
