The paradox: Larry Flynt may be the dirtiest purveyor of smut in American history, and his Hustler magazine remains, in my opinion, one of the most gloriously perverted pornographic magazines still in print, and yet, even though I have only visited one strip club with the Flynt/Hustler imprimatur, they aim for none of the nauseating, misogynistic trash anyone can find in possibly every other single club in the East St. Louis area. And I’m puzzled. And a bit pissed. Larry’s gentleman’s clubs are nuns compared to the shit I can see on his pages.

Larry Flynt’s Hustler Club is one of three places in Washington Park, Illinois on Bunkum Road, the quasi-frontage road after you take a left off of the Kingshighway exit. You can see their huge pink neon sign from highway 64, so you won’t miss it. As I’ve said in previous reviews, the Bunkum Rd. clubs are fairly well-lit, so at least this place, Hollywood Show Club and Miss Kitty’s are safe (even though a bouncer at the Hustler Club accidentally shot himself to death the early morning of May 2).

I have been to the Hustler twice now, both times tracking down a hot chick that I got bed dances from at Hollywood Show Club. They disappeared without a trace, but I couldn’t get them out of my mind, and I heard that they were working at LFHC. So both times, I started my quest by paying the night weekend cover of $15 and opening the double doors to the main room. You enter on one side, where a sizable bar and one small circular stage are. The room goes left with a huge stage at the end. (There is one small circular stage between that and the bar.) That entire half of the room is populated with low tables and rolling chairs. Booths line the walls on that half, usually occupied by dancers, their customers, and the bouncers scoping that area, and the main stage, to make sure no riffraff occurs.
