Penthouse has nearly become the de rigeur after-hours spot for the bar scene in St. Louis proper. This, I suppose, is a blessing and a curse. In fact, when the question 'East side?' is voiced among patrons in bars at closing time on the West side of the Mississippi, it's almost a given that the Penthouse Club is implicit. That said, Penthouse gets crowded around 3am with usually drunk amateurs. Again, a blessing and a curse. Fortunately, the club is spacious, so there's always room to get away from the throng, if, like me, you're more of the observational type.

The girls are uniformly attentive and generally friendly, although I must say that my girlfriend gets most of the attention. I believe that the dancers here are perceived as generally being a cut above others in this region, but I have to say they're a bit professional for my taste. I prefer the girls to be a little more personable and 'real' - and honestly, I quite dislike fake breasts.

The drink prices are not outrageous, nor is the cover charge. The combination of admission to PT's, across the parking lot, is an added bonus if you're a club-hopper. Penthouses's facilities are top-notch, and the atmosphere (aside from the lighting, which was significantly more annoying than usual, bordering on discomfort, the last time I was there) is quite comfortable.
