I was passing through Santee in...
I was passing through Santee in the middle of March and decided to give this place a try, even though the most recent info here was dated. Arrived about 8:30 and at first wondered if they were even open; there wasn't even anyone collecting the cover charge at the door. (Later, I found out that you can also enter Spinners from the adjoining restaurant for free, as long as you had dinner there, from a door beside the bar.) Walked around the partition separating the entrance from the club and saw that there were 4 or 5 girls about, several of whom were entertaining a group of older gentlemen who looked like they had just come in from the golf course nearby, so I decided to grab a seat at the small bar and have a beer. Smallish place, small stage in the middle of the room with a few tables scattered about, and only a handful of seats at the bar. Private dance area with couches hidden from view near the entrance. It wasn't long before I was glad I decided to stay. More dancers arrived, and, when not on stage, mainly hung around the bar. I spent an hour talking to several, mostly 5-7s, and walking up to the stage and tipping whatever dancer happened to be entertaining the crowd, which did grow, but there were never more than a dozen or two customers at anyone time. The girls -- several of whom drive up from Charleston to work here -- said that Mondays are usually slow. Very laid back and no pressure for private dances, but I eventually did spring for 2 very energetic privates ($28.00 each) from a very cute, petite girl whose name escapes me. She was one of the girls who I had talked to most of the evening, and I had bought her a couple of drinks beforehand. Again, no pressure to buy drinks or dances. I was just out to have a good time and unwind, but ended up staying longer than I had planned. When the crowd thinned out after midnight, I left and they said they were going to close early, so beware if you plan to hit this place late on a weeknight.
Overall a pleasant, laidback experience and a nice evening after a long day of driving. I would visit again if ever passing through. Spinners is less than a half mile from I-95 and on the main road through Santee, and within walking distance of many of the usual chain hotels you find in most towns off the interstate.
