you know you're a complete degenerate when you're making vacation plans from web sites like this. so i decided to visit san diego to check out tj, and specifically adelita bar. pretty much everything mentioned here is accurate :). i'll just mention how i did my visits. so i stayed in downtown sd. didn't bother to rent a car. i would take the trolley down to san ysidro/tj station. took about 40 minutes one way. oh yeah, don't forget your passport because they really do check it before letting you back into the us. the first trip i had realized i forgot it right before i got to the station, and had to head all the way back to downtown. annoying, but fortunately before i had crossed the border :). from the station you go through the first gates, cross a walkway, and then through a second set of gates. this puts you at the edge of town. there's a few restaurants and pharmacies here, and a bunch of taxis waiting to take people downtown. the options are to get in a taxi, or walk. i generally went during the daytime, so i hoofed it everytime. it takes about 20 minutes. you have to cross a bridge, head towards the arch, then find calle coahuila. i was solo, and never felt unsafe, but again, it was never pitch black during my hikes. it's a little confusing to find the place the first time, but after that, it's pretty straightforward. the ab is pretty non-descript. looks like a large bar with sort of a stage that occasionally had some dancing going on. it was never totally packed when i visited. seemed like a mix of locals and gringos/tourists. bottled beers for $3-4, $7 if you buy for the ladies. the girls here, as everyone has mentioned, in general, all very attractive. a few not so great ones, but a virtual candystore especially for those who dig latinas. most speak minimal english (my spanish is minimal), so conversation can be relatively sparse. prices are exactly as mentioned below. i made several visits during my few days visit to sd. the only limiting factor was how often i could get it up ;). the most annoying part was hiking back to the border and crossing over. the walk seemed to take a little longer, and occasionally there were big lines to get back into the usa. this place is not technically a strip club, so it's not really fair to compare, but my sense of value at a regular strip club is forever screwed, thanks to ab. i'll definitely be visiting sd again in the future.
